The Saga of the Fairybear
Do you remember the well-loved childhood stories of the Nibelungenlied? Of
Siegfried and Brunhyld; of Beowulf and the monster, Grendel? Well did you
know that one of those stories had our own Siward as the hero? This would be
no surprise to the saga-loving Danes of that time, but to us “children” of
the “90’s”? Well, we could hardly believe such a folk tale but whether they
are legend or tradition we shall soon see.
In those olden times Siward was known as Siguard or Siegfried and we suspect
that the hero of this story may have been Siward’s father or grandfather.
Siguard was the son of Sigmund, King of Denmark, who was first married to
Borghild and second to Hiordis, the daughter of Eylimi. Siguard was their
son. The King, Sigmund, was killed in battle and Hiordas was afterwards
married to Alf, son of King Halpreck with whom Sigurd grew up. Sigmund and
his sons exceeded all other men in strength and stature and courage and all
accomplishments, though Sigurd was foremost of all! And in old traditions
he is mentioned as exceeding all men in strength and was the most renowned
of warlike Kings.
Sigurd worshipped the great Norge God of the Anglo Saxons and of ancient
Scythia, who was Odin. In legends, the Eddaic litereture of the North, the
God Odin stood out distinctly as the great law-giver and leader of the
Northern peoples. Both in ancient and in modern accounts he stands out-and
it is a tradition that he visited Glastonbury, England during the time of
Tiberius Caesar, 37 A.D.
The Nibelungenleid is an epic poem describing Norse and Teutonic mythology
and the early history of Burgundy. Siegfried is the hero of the
Nibelungenleid. He killed two Burgundian chiefs and obtained (a) The Magic
Sword, (b) the horde of gold which had been cursed and (c) Tornkappo, a
cape which makes the wearer invisible.
There are four versions of “The fairy Bear Story” and this is the most
famous one.
Hringo, King of Upland, had as only son called Biorn, the most beautiful
and gallant of the Northern youth. In his later life the King fell in love
with a “witch” lady whom he chose for his second wife. However, the new
Queen was jealous of Biorn and persuaded his father, the King, to leave him
at home with her when he went on his piratical expeditions. In the absence
of Hringo, the Scandiavian monarch, she communicated to Biorn an impure
affection and he repulsed her with disdain, and the rage of his stepmother
was boundless.
“Hence to the woods”, she exclaimed, striking the prince with her glove of
wolfskin. “Live pursuing and die pursued”. From this time on Prince Biorn
was no more seen and the herdsmen of the Kings cattle soon observed that
astonishing devastation was made nightly among their flocks by a bear of
imsense size and unusual ferocity. Every attempt to snare or destroy the
animal was found of no use; and they exclaimed often on the loss of Biorn,
their Prince, whose delight had been in exterminating beasts of prey.
Biorn had a lovely little friend, Bera, a daughter of an ancient warrior,
whom he was friendly with in his youthful years. Therefore, Bera added her
tears to the sorrow of her people. As she was indulging her sorrow, alone,
she was alarmed by the approach of a huge bear. Unable to excape, she waited
in expectation of instant death, when to her astonishment the animal fawned
upon her, rolled at her feet and regarded her with eyes in which she found
a glimmer of recognition.
After several days of the bears playful actions she decided to follow him to
his den or lair where-during certain hours-the spell permitted him to
regain his human form. With great surprise she found that this was Biorn,
her long lost lover. She continued to inhabit his cavern and enjoyed his
society in those periods when he was free from enchantment.
One day, looking sadly upon his wife, he said, “Bera, the end of my life
approaches. My flesh shall soon serve for the repast of my father and his
attendants. But thou beware lest either the threats or entreaties of my
diabolical stepmother induce thee to partake of this horrible banquet. Thou
shalt safely bring forth Three Sons who shall be the wonder of the North.”
He went back under the spell and sallied forth to prowl among the herds.
Bera, weeping, followed him from a distance. The clamor of the chase was now
heard. The old King, returned from his piratical expedition, had collected
a strong force to destroy the devouring animal which revaged his country.The
poor bear defended himself gallantly, slaying many dogs and some huntsmen.
At length, weary, he sought protection at the feet of his father. But his
gestures were in vain. Biorn died by the lance of his father and his flesh
was prepared for the royal banquet. Bera, his wife, was recognized and
hurried into the presence of the Queen.
As Biorn had predicted, the witch queen prevailed upon Bera to eat the
flesh. When Bera rebelled the queen commanded force to be used and Bera was
compelled to swallow one morsel of the bears flesh. She would not have any
more and she was dismissed from her fathers household.
In precess of time she was delivered of three sons, two of whom were
affected in person and in disposition by the share their mother had been
compelled to take in the feast of the King.
The eldest, from his middle downwards, resembled an elk and received the
name of Elgford. He proved to be of uncommon strength but of savage
disposition and became a robber.
The second son, Thorer, was handsome and well-shaped, saving that he had
feet of a dog, so he received the name of Houndsfoot.
The third son, Bodvar, was a model of perfection in mind and body. The
meaning of those names are Elgford,Elkwald(elk), Thorer, Loumaine(wolf), and
Fair Bear, Fairbairn(white bear).
Bodvar revenged himself upon the necromantic queen for the death of his
father, Biorn, and became the most celebrated champion of his age; the
person about whom these many legends persist.

It will be left to the literary licence of the Armstrong for the above. It is felt there are instead of Danish versions, there are some Norman versions which are not so niece to the Armstrong.
Biorn and Elg-ford are Germanic-Anglo-Danish forms for people being referred to as Bear, and Elk (Moose).
Where Loumaine/Louman/Loumann, is Anglo-Norman for wolf-person.
Aliot is in southwest France, along with the distribution of the surnames Louman, and Aliot.
It should be noted above, there still seems to be a small number of Loumann located in Denmark, where they as Norman Loumann tra (Ulf wolfs of wolflee/wolfhopelee), traveled the Fairbairn (Bjørn bear) and Elwald (Elg elk-moose), and now collaborating with the English (Infinis) and the aristocratic their chief, and Cessford (Roxburghe), are feuding with the border gentry, Buccleuch and Northumberland, to desecrate the best known antiquity known to borderers spread through the English Plantations around the world, by placing industrial turbines on today’s Hermitage Castle Hill. It is these gentry which have renovated a preserved these border antiquities for centuries, just to have modern border executives, acting without regulation in destruction of these antiquities because of old border feuds is a great crime.

Want to give thanks to someone which is not in my Y-DNA spectrum;

Guess I seem to be twice as bull headed and half as smart as an elk (moose);
Croyland of the Elwald/Ellot is marsh land, and it is felt the marsh dwellers, THE KER, may have migrated through the region, up from Normandy and on to the borderland through Lancashire. Given my Y-DNA and being part left handed must be part KER.
Figured if these bull headed animals like myself knew where they were from, could travel my Y-DNA which travels along with my Y-Chromosomes to find where my father’s father would come from. Felt like the elk (moose), had to swim rivers and dodge traffic, and have the persistence. Figure if the people did not like it could reunion with the elch wald; elk (moose) of the forest in northern Germany, around today’s Berlin and Hamburg.

Even surname distributions from Aliot to Eliot, brings understanding to what he has to say;
If the name Elliott in the UK has a single origin, one could understand why given, name distribution of Eliot that it would be the Breton Eliot.
Elwald/Ellot, Thorleehope, Redheugh, and Gorrenberry, Armstrong, Hector, and Sandy’s son, Crosyer/Crozier, Clement. and the Kerr of Ferniehirst, we were all in 1541 in on bringing the Hunters to Scotland.
Elwald/Ellot of Thorsleehope (valley of Thor), Archibald Elwald of Gorrenberry, Robin son of Rob son of Robert of Redheugh, even Sandy’s son, along with Hector Armstrong, and Clement Crosyer, we were all in on bring the Hunters to a place the would like to hunter on Hunthill near Ferniehirst Castle of the Ker/Kerr.
Clement Crosyer of Stob, uncle to Hob (Robert) Elwode (Elwald/Ellot), adopted my grandfather, Robert (Hob) Ellot (Elwald). The Crosyer were also related to Hunter.
Stobs and Agerstone are at the foot, of Coklaw, and mound on a hill from Humbelknows (flatten mounds) near Hawick south to Coklaw, own by the Gladstanis, which, mined coal on this hill referred to as Colifort Hill, because of the coal collieries on it an on the southern most mound of Coklaw were coal coking facilities to make steel from a mill on a stream of the east side, product could be floated to Hawick. The Crosyer lived as Stobs, and Angerstone at the foot of Coklaw, and provided service to the Gladstanis, Coklaw Castler, this could be as an army and as producing the coke for making the steel. Later on the Crosyer moved north toward the Gladstanis estate of Hummel Knows (flatten hills), near Hawick. The one how is referred to as Cokis Crosyer, is the one who served the Coklaw estate, hence the name Cokis. This land of Collifort hill lies between the land of the Buccleuch Scott, and the Douglas of Cavers. It show be noted that a great number of Scot, ended up in lease regions of Ulster along with the Ellot, Armstrong, Ker/Carr, and Crosar, where the Douglas ended up more away from everyone. Buccleuch is noted to hide away Clementis Hob’s grandfather on land acquired by Gavin of Horseleyhill, Stobs, and Baillillie. Gavin purchased Stobs for William, son of Gilbert, who at first supported Sir John Elliot of the Parliamentarians, the name became Elliot, then William went ahead and support the first Buccleuch of today’s line and illegitimate child of King Charles II. The Ker of Ferniehirst, and the Buccleuch Scot provide finances to get the Armstrong and Elwald/Ellot out of jail and for time beings with bonding the Ker, Ferniehirst Castle was used as a jail, but a feud exist between Cessford (Duke of Roxburghe) and Buccleuch (Duke of;), where he (Walter Scot) has Gilbert of Stobs who was not even alive at the time executing Cessford.
Border Scots have a tendency to feud, but in order to protect the historical borderlands, it is felt this feud needs to end.
If should be noted that Keith Elliot Hunter of Hawick; has relatives of the Elliot and Crozier of Gorrenberry.
It is felt that Margaret Eliott daughter of Arthur and today’s Clan Chief made an excellent choice of Keith Elliot Hunter for Clan Elliot historian.

Then name Elliott in the UK has Wm de Aliot origins, in the US has Anglo-Danish origins of Elfwald/Elwald.
The Louman, Anglo-Norman do not want to in the United Kingdom since they displaced them at the time of The Union of The Crowns, do not want to recognized the Anglo-Scandinavians, of the Elfwald/Elwald/Ellot line, like the brethren the Armstrong (bear) do, and that is why I am asking the Clan Armstrong to recognized the Elfwald/Elwald/Ellot line as a sept of Clan Armstrong.
Given the distribution pattern some Louman are found in southern France and would carry a Norman characteristic.
For the Elgfold/Elkwald/Elfwald/Elwald/Ellot/Elliot, the distribution of the German Ewald give with the “l” extracted would give similarities where the Elwald (Elchwald, Elgwald, Elfwald) are from.
The crescents of the German Ewald, and the Northumubria Elwald show similarities, inclusive of a tree, but the Elwald have the King/St Elwald stag’s head.

Y-DNA research done by Robert P. Elliott which is also as myself of the Daniel Cluster shows the name Lindemann.
Where Lindemann gives a similar surname distribution as Ewald, and keyed me in on that Loumaine could be spelled Loumann.
Elfwald, means; elves of the woods, and Lindemann, means; people of the linde tree forest.
Linde an Old English species of trees,
with a heart shape leaf,
longevity in life,
and a distribution pattern around Berlin, towards York, and up into Scotland, as it is felt the family migrated.
Netherlands shows the most of the tree.
The tree is referred to also as the Tilia Tree, and located where the Tilroe surname is most common, which shares Y-DNA with the Lindemann surname. So have concluded that the names Tilroe is from the Tilia Tree, and Lindemann is from the Linde Tree, and they are the same tree, because the surnames carry the same Y-DNA.

It should be noted that the wolves (Norman), and the elk-moose (Scandinavians), are not considered friends.
A Note to the UK Armstrong.
In the manner of the Armstrong, an armigerous clan, each UK Armstrong realizes that each individual is responsible for the operation of the clan. The numbers are showing in the thousands, representing a high percent of the Armstrong in the United Kingdom, on the website;

Though I think by the numbers, and numbers is a universal language, there is no way, because a land of my ancestors of centuries back is quite foreign. Characteristics are passed down because my family is from the Scottish border region.
UK Armstrong, though living in different localities, some relocated at the time of The Union, others because of The English Civil War, but all acting independent from each other act as strong force in conjunction with each other.
Because of shared characteristics, if all Armstrong of the UK, do it for family, and do it for the father’s father, the force will act as a unified force in a most positive manner.
In the US I’m an Elliott (of Ellot/Elliot), but in the United Kingdom, I’m an Armstrong, because like the Armstrong and Buck (Buccleuch), it is realized that I am Scandinavian.

Not all people get to be the unvanquished;
In a sense I feel like I am being devoured by Norman wolves.
As one as an United Kingdom Armstrong, with their collective, input which reaches a higher level of accuracy, the acceptability by single mined individuals not based on group thought, as being correct, without highly cross relating, or trying to build on that of previous researched, but a stagnation of though that is said correct without a realization that the most accurate know they make errors with, but they get corrected. The least accurate are those not making correction when error is pointed out, but given a Norman base position of status, not an implementable basis of knowledge are accepted without question as being correct.
Though I can figure out my origins, it is seemly some other people like to tell me who I am, and I figure, the people of the Armstrong do not like to be told who they are also.
Research is showing that the Clan Chief of the Clan Elliot Society is my cousin, previous to The Union, but the split put the Clan Chief into the aristocracy, and the landholder society of the United Kingdom, and my family migrated with a lot of the Armstrong, Scott and other border people, and ended up in the American Plantation. Family did not exactly get a long on departing, as it is with some families, but it is felt though with the different directions to put the family together again it would be very positive for the family as a whole, because united families are better then divided families.
Today Norman land ownership values among people will supersede family values, and desegregation of what is important to the family, makes family values lessor importance then what is felt to be Norman corporate profits, and power.
With family values and it is felt shared characteristics, by following the lead of the Clan Armstrong Trust in protecting the Hermitage Castle from The Infinis Windy Edge wind farm turbines. The Buccleuch has taking the lead in the past by renovation of The Hermitage Castle.
The land base of Buccleuch Estates has been in reduction over the years, and gentry acting as corporate heads have been utilizing their corporate powers in a destructive fashion against the historical antiquities of the United Kingdom.
The Armstrong in accepting the Elwald line, with the Elliot Clan not accepting the Elwald line, being Elwald the Elliot Clan gets Cowie of Gorrenberry by that which actually was the family of Elwald which became Ellot then Elliot, as the father of this line has explained that of Arthur Eliott.
The Gorrenberry family rode with the Martin Ellot family of Braidley, and lived at the locality were the Infinis Windy Edge wind farm is proposed to be.
In 1591 Simon the son of Martin had a lease on Bothwell land of Braidlie. Norman idealists can lavish in their own standing freeze in which they try to sustain and unrealistic status-qua in which a progression of their environment moves, and this movement puts their stagnated locality into total incorrectness. The Armstrong in supporting like I myself their father’s father, can put the environment in motion to expose clan chiefs of the Elliot and Kerr Clans along with the Cessford-Duke of Roxburghe all linked to North British Windpower (NBW) in not opposing desecration of The Hermitage Castle by industrial electric turbine encroachment are in direct support of the English Infinis Windy Edge wind turbine array which is the cause of this border destruction.

For centuries the aristocrats have been protecting Britain’s treasures, their historical antiquities.

Growing numbers of the nobility are being tempted to build giant wind farms on their estates by the promise of tens of millions of pounds being offered green energy developers.

The Duke of Roxburghe has angered locals – including the neighbouring Duke of Northumberland – after winning a lengthy planning and legal battle to build 48 turbines, each about 400ft high, on unspoilt moorland in the Scottish borders.
Construction work began about two months ago with the building of a road 10 miles long through previously pristine countryside to reach the wind farm site.
The Duke, who is worth about £100 million, will reportedly earn as much as £2.5 million a year from the deal although a spokesman, who declined to discuss the actual amount, said that figure was not accurate.
One industry expert said a more realistic figure was in the order of £720,000 a year.
In the course of the 25-year lifespan of the wind farm at Fallago Rig that could net the Duke anywhere between £18 million and £62.5 million.
The details of the deal struck with an energy company remain confidential although The Sunday Telegraph understands the Duke’s earnings are performance related – in other words the more the wind blows the more money he will make.
One industry expert estimated Fallago Rig could generate about £875 million income over the next quarter of a century for the Duke and his commercial partner North British Windpower.
Half that sum is in the form of a consumer subsidy, introduced by the last Labour government to encourage renewable energy projects, and which is added on to household electricity bills.
The turbines will not be visible from Floors Castle, the Duke’s ancestral home about 25 miles away. ……………………………….
